“Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.”
― Frederic Bastiat, The Law
Hi, I’m Scott Schluter. I’m a father and an Iraq War veteran with two Middle East tours under my belt. I attended Southeastern Illinois College where I graduated with two degrees in Diesel Technology. I’m also a life-long resident of Southern Illinois where I work as a Diesel Mechanic. I am the Chair of the Southern Illinois Libertarian Party, the Political Division Director of the Libertarian Party of Illinois, and a Libertarian Precinct Committeeman in my home Precinct. I am a staunch believer in the principles of the United States Constitution and I want to bring those principles back to Illinois government. The founding fathers realized that without certain restrictions in place, our government would seize as much power as possible, and the bureaucrats in Springfield are doing just that. We would be a lot better off as a nation if we recognize the importance of Freedom in our lives and our economy.
I am running for General Assembly to fight for you. I will fight to force the government back to the ideals that made this country great and fight back against those that have systematically stripped us of our rights. I will work to repeal any unnecessary legislation that infringes on your rights and halt out of control spending. I promise to resist any legislation that takes what belongs to you and gives it to another. Your rights are yours and yours alone. I only seek to help you protect them. In short, I want to go to Springfield to regulate the government, not the people.
